NICOLA HAIGH B.A hons A.T.C.
Beginning with photography I create my work using combinations of acrylic, oils and batik and watercolour. ‘Red Dash’ and ‘Reflections Blues with Fish’ are examples of batik with acrylics and oils on a canvas panel.
‘Orange’ is an example of a silk batik framed between two pieces of glass to enhance the translucent qualities.
I have used acrylic paint with modelling paste in the ‘Breaking Calm’ series, in order to emphasise the contrast between the calm and the chaos as the waves break.
‘Lily Pads’ is a watercolour piece.
My silk scarves are made individually by me and are therefore completely original and unique.
Having taught art for over thirty years, I have recently been able to focus on my own work. As a result, I have exhibited more in my local area and been able to run short art courses from my studio near Ludlow.
I am running a series of courses for children in the summer. These will include drawing, painting, ceramics, silk painting and batik.
My adult courses will include watercolours, silk painting and batik
